Crawl Space Solutions of Arkansas serving Cord, AR

When moisture from the crawl space began to affect the conditions inside the home, the homeowners called CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas. Our Design Specialist drove out to inspect their crawl space and make some suggestions as to how to eliminate the humidity in the crawl space and improve the air quality in their home.

Drying out the crawl space would dry out the home, so the vents would be sealed with SilverGlo Vent Seals and SilverGlo Insulation Panels installed to help prevent changes in humidity due to temperature changes. The piers would be wrapped with our 12-mil thick Wallie to stop condensation from entering through the porous concrete. Our dimpled Drainage Matting would be secured to the dirt floor of the crawl space as a vapor barrier, preventing water from pooling below. The CleanSpace Liner rests above the Drainage Matting, secured to the walls and floor of the crawl space and seams are sealed to isolate the home from the earth, completely and permanently. Our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier keeps the humidity below 60%, keeping the crawl space and home cleaner, drier, and healthier!

Homeowners in Cord reached out to us for help with their crawl space. Moisture had caused floors to sag and they were concerned about mold. Our Design Specialist inspected the crawl space and made recommendations to keep the crawl space and home cleaner, drier and healthier!

Our crew would start by treating the crawl space with our Mold-X2 cleaner, then removing debris and smoothing out the surface of the crawl space. A hole would be dug in the lowest corner of the crawl space, allowing our SmartSump Sump Pump to be set up to carry water out and away from the home. Our Dimpled Drainage Matting would be installed, acting as a thermal break. The vents would be sealed with our SilverGlo Vent Seals to keep humid air out of the crawl space, and SilverGlo Insulation Panels would help lower heating and cooling costs. Wrapping the piers with our 12-mil thick Wallie helps prevent condensation from forming on the porous concrete, and the CleanSpace Liner would be secured to the walls and floor of the crawl space, isolating the home from the earth completely and permanently. The SaniDry Sedona could pull up to 100 pints of water out of the crawl space every day, and this home would be cleaner, drier, healthier, and more structurally sound.

The Clean Space Liner is a white/blue seven-layer reinforced laminate containing no adhesives. The outer layer consists of high strength polyurethane film manufactured using virgin grade resins and containing UVI and thermal stabilizers. CleanSpace is reinforced with two separate plies of a 900 denier polyurethane reinforcement laid in a diagonal pattern spaced 38 apart with an additional machine direction polyester every 3" across the width. The individual plies are laminated together with molten polyethylene. 

Installing the Cleanspace Liner

The Cleanspace liner is carefully cut and installed in sections. Small holes will be drilled into the crawl space walls approximately 6 " below the wood sill plate and every 3" along the wall. Nylon fasteners are installed to permanently secure the CleanSpace liner to the wall. The top edge of the liner is sealed to the walls with a polyurethane sealant. All seams are sealed with special 4" wide sealing tape and/ or sealant. The Cleanspace liner is also sealed around other objects, such as pipes, columns, and piers with any combination of a sealant of concrete. 

Our Smart Sump is a combination of patented and custom components that make up a highly efficient and reliable water evacuation system for crawl space environments. Smart Sumps are designed to evacuate water from the CLeanspace Crawl Space Encapsulation system. 

Installing the SmartSump Pump

Create a hole in the floor, at the lowest possible elevation in the crawlspace approximately 21" in diameter and excavate down 21" from the floor surface. Set the liner in the hole with the lid approximately 1/4" below the surface of the crawlspace and backfilled with clean stone. Install the pump: check valve and section of 1-1/2" PVC discharge pipe that extends above the floor. With the Cleanspace cut approximately 2" inside the liner base all the way around the diameter, place the 2- piece lid around the discharge pipe and pull the electrical cord through the other opening in the top and then with the Cleanspace sandwich between the base and sump lid, bolt the lid into place. Install airtight grommets and alarm. Mount Cord Captain to the 1 1/2" discharge line using supplied pipe clamp for wire management, hang system service envelope using 8" wire tie supplied and fill out all information on labels.
