Client called in our experts here at Crawl Space Solutions of Arkansas, because they were frustrated due to flooding in their crawl space area, every time it rained. We quickly got our Design Specialist out and devised a plan of action to fix this issue. First, we removed and disposed of all the old, moist insulation and excess debris in the area. Next, we placed Drainage Matting and a SmartSump Sump Pump system, so that the water will drain and be pumped out of the area. 

Now, this area is a cleaner, drier, and much healthier space!

Moisture Barrier in Greenwood, AR

Crawl spaces are often dirty and damp, mainly due to their exposure to water and moisture. This makes it a perfect environment for mold, mildew, rust, and insects to grow. But you can prevent this unwanted growth from thriving if you invest in a crawl space moisture barrier.

This is the barrier that stops moisture from coming from the dirt floor from being absorbed by your crawl space, lowering the air quality in your home. The moisture barrier is a plastic material or foil sheet that effectively prevents vapor from penetrating into the crawl space.

The moisture in crawl space under house usually comes from three main sources, including bulk water, outdoor air coming in through the crawl space vents, and moisture from the ground.

HOW TO GET RID OF MOISTURE IN CRAWL SPACE

Encapsulation. This can be done by installing vapor barriers to the crawl space’s foundation walls and floor. This also involves sealing all plumbing and supports, as well as applying caulking to the wall and barriers to avoid releasing moisture into this particular spot in the house.

Our CleanSpace Liner is a white/blue seven-layer reinforced laminate containing no adhesives. The outer layer consists of high-strength polyurethane film manufactured using virgin grade resins and containing UVI and thermal stabilizers. CleanSpace is reinforced with two separate plies of a 900 denier polyurethane reinforcement laid in a diagonal pattern spaced 3/8" apart with an additional machine direction polyester every 3" across the width. The individual plies are laminated together with molten polyethylene.

The CleanSpace liner is carefully cut and installed in sections. Small holes will be drilled into the crawl space walls approximately 6" below the wood sill plate and every 3' along the wall. Nylon fasteners are installed to permanently secure the CleanSpace liner to the wall. The top edge of the liner is sealed to the walls with a polyurethane sealant. All seams are sealed with special 4" wide sealing tape and or sealant. The CleanSpace liner is also sealed around other objects, such as pipes, columns, and piers with any combination of a sealant of concrete

Our crawlspace has mold due to the AC unit exhaust being put under the house. I would also like for the structure to be looked at as well and possibly some reinforcement added if needed. We would also like the space to be fully cleaned, all wires/water lines secured, a crawlspace door added (currently open) and the duct work insulation to be redone, etc.
