Job Stories From Lonoke County, AR
Mold In CrawlSpace , Lonoke Ar

Tamera R, Called Crawl Space Solutions because she was having high levels of humidity in her crawlspace. High levels of humidity can mean a lot of things; such as condensation. High humidity levels in a dirt crawl space, cool surfaces such as the earth at 55 degrees, concrete, and metal surfaces will sweat with water vapor condensing out of the air. This causes rot, smells, and is a water source for critters. To prevent this our System Design Specialist decided to use our State Of the Art SmartSump and our CleanSpace Liner.

The Smart Sump is designed to evacuate water from the clean space crawl space encapsulation system. The production crew installs this system by doing the following.

Create a hole in the floor, at the lowest possible elevation in the crawlspace approximately 21" in diameter and excavate down 21" from the floor surface. Set the liner in the hole with the lid approximately 1/4" below the surface of the crawlspace and backfill with clean stone. Install the pump; check valve and section of 1-1/2 PVC discharge pipe that extends above the floor. With the Cleanspace cut approximately 2" inside the liner base all the way around the diameter, place the 2- piece lid around the discharge pipe and pull the electrical cord through the other opening in the top and then with the clean space sandwiched between the base and sump lid, bolt the lid into place. Install airtight grommets and alarm. Mount Cord Captain to the 1 1/2 discharge line using the supply pipe clamp for wire management, hang system service envelope using 8" wire tie.

This is how our production team will install the Smart Sump into your crawl space, keeping it nice and dry!

CleanSpace Encapsulation, Ward Ar

A homeowner in Ward wanted to waterproof his crawl space. Every time it rains, his crawl space gets flooded. He called the experts here at Crawl Space Solutions of Arkansas to get his free crawl space inspection. When our System Design Specialist arrived at the house, he did a full inspection and determined the best solution was a SmartSump Sump Pump, IceGuard, CleanSpace Encapsulation, and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier.

The installation crew started off by installing the SmartSump at the lowest possible elevation in the crawlspace and backfilled the hole with clean stone. A discharge line was run from the sump pump to outside the home, where IceGuard was installed to prevent water from backing up into the crawl space if the drainage line to the lawn freezes. Inside, the crawl space was prepped for the Drainage Matting, dimpled to allow ground water to run below it towards the sump pump. The CleanSpace Liner was secured to the walls with a silicone sealant and covered the Drainage Matting on the floor of the crawl space. The liner provides additional insulation to the crawl space and isolates the home from the earth. Once the crawl space is fully lined, the final touch is the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier, a powerful yet energy efficient dehumidifier pulling up to 100 pints of water out of the crawl space per day.

The homeowner now has a waterproof crawl space, and we were happy to help!

EverLast Door Installation, Austin Ar

Our production team installs many different products to stop/prevent mold, to create a water vapor barrier for your basement or crawlspace. One product we install is our vent covers or EverLast Door. These covers greatly improve the appearance, operation, and energy efficiency of a basement window. The bright, modern, easy gliding Everlast is a must for every home. By letting in outside air we increase our heating bills in the winter, increase our cooling bills in the summer and actually let more moisture into the house. The EverLast door will seal off outside air, compatible with a damp environment near the ground, and look good for years to come. The EverLast door can be used on block walls, Poured Walls, or Stone Walls. To use it on a block wall- first, the frame comes out, measure block to block horizontally and block to sill plate vertically, subtract 1/2" from each measurement for window size. To install it on a poured wall- Frame stays in- measure between innermost parts of the frame both ways and subtract 1/2" from each measurement for window size. For Stone Walls- Measure opening that would be left when the old wood frame is removed and subtract 1/2 from each measurement for window size.

The installation procedures:

In the opening using his level of the entire window in the opening. Using a window and door foam that has minimal expansion properties is best so it won't blow in the window jambs. Leave the foam to sit for 15 minutes to allow for expansion and cure time. Next, tape off the window jambs to protect the jamb and window. Use a small bead of hydraulic cement or textured FlexiCaulk on the interior and exterior of the window.

Just like this, the EverLast Door will be properly installed!

CleanSpace Installation and SaniDry Sedona in England, AR

Since up to 50% of household air can flow up from your crawl space, it’s important to keep it as clean and dry as possible. Adding a crawl space vapor barrier and dehumidifier is widely accepted as the best way to improve indoor air quality and make energy improvements inside your home.

Water vapor enters the crawl space from the ground (even through cement), leading many people to encapsulate their crawl space to keep the moisture out.

Some Benefits:

  • Improved air quality in your crawl space and home
  • Creates inhospitable area for pests and wood-destroying insects
  • Allows for more comfortable living conditions
  • Avoid fungi/mold issues and structural damage
  • Greater energy efficiency in your home

Encapsulating, or at least sealing crawl spaces is a popular solution for avoiding indoor moisture issues. Encapsulation can be compared to the lining added to swimming pools to avoid leaks.

A heavy-duty polyethylene barrier is added to completely cover your crawl space - usually the floors, foundation walls, and sometimes even ceiling.

Once your space is completely sealed, the final piece of encapsulation is controlling the air to maintain a healthy humidity level. The most common way to do this is by adding a dehumidifier to regulate your crawl space’s moisture level.

This barrier and dehumidifier combination protects the crawl space from excess moisture and all the problems that come along with it.

Installing an Encapsulation in Carlisle, AR

The most basic way to view it is that crawl space encapsulation turns your crawl space into a waterproof capsule. There are a ton of reasons why you would want to do this that we’ll get to in a minute but first a little more about this whole encapsulation thing. First, a waterproof vapor barrier is installed. This vapor barrier is usually made from heavy-duty plastics, laminates, and resins.

The first thing we install when we do an encapsulation is our drainage matting. The drainage matting is great for crawl space drainage under CleanSpace on concrete or dirt floors. The dimples allow better conductivity for water to get to the perimeter drainage or sump pump located in the lowest spot of the crawlspace. The drainage matting also softens the floor and increases durability.

The second thing we installed is our CleanSpace liner- which is used to isolate the home from the earth completely and permanently. This dramatically reduces the humidity levels in the air which when combined with sealing outside air and dehumidification (SaniDry Sedona) will eliminate mold growth and rot from the crawl space.

The last thing we installed was our Smart Sump-which is a combination of patented and custom components that make up a highly efficient and reliable water evacuation system for crawl space environments. Smart Sumps are designed to evacuate water from the CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system.

Custom Metal Crawl Space Door

We offer a variety of products that suit all different types of crawl space needs. We believe that every crawl space should have a door with a tight seal to keep the outside air away from the crawl space, especially the moisture that air can bring with it. We offer an EverLast Crawl Space Door that is custom fit to each crawl space opening as well as a custom metal door. At this home in Lonoke, we installed a brown custom metal door.

The metal doors that we install are custom welded to match the specifications of the opening at each home. No two doors are exactly the same just as no two crawl spaces are exactly the same. Once they are built, we send them off to be powder coated in a variety of colors. Color options include white, black, brown, cream, beige, and grey. During the initial inspection, the Design Specialist will discuss color options with the goal of selecting the best color match for the home. While installing these doors, we make sure they are well insulated and weather-proofed which ensures a good seal at the door for the encapsulation.

One of the best features about these metal doors is that they are hinged, which makes them easy to open and close. They also come with a lockable latch, which adds to the security of your crawl space.

Moisture in Ward Crawl Space

A resident of Ward reached out to us with concerns about moisture in his crawl space. One of our Design Specialists, Jack, met with the homeowner to discuss his concerns and inspect the crawl space. After a complete inspection, Jack was able to provide the homeowner with a solution to suit his needs.

Thomas and his crew started by removing all the old Visqueen, batted insulation, and debris from the crawl space. After grading and prepping the crawl space, the crew sealed the vents with SilverGlo Vent Seals. The EverLast Door, designed to hold up to the conditions on the ground around the crawl space, was custom cut on site to ensure a good fit. Drainage Matting was the next step, providing durability, a thermal break, and puncture resistance. The CleanSpace Liner would sit above the Drainage Matting, and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier would remove humidity from the air.

Crawl Space Repair in Cabot

At this Cabot home, we completed an encapsulation and waited for the wood to dry, per the customer's request. When he was ready, he asked us to come back out and evaluate which beams would need to be replaced. Michael, our Design Specialist, determined to best serve the structural needs of the home, we would need to replace 72 feet of Main Bean and 1032 feet of floor joist. The homeowner agreed and our installation crew got started. Trey and his crew carefully measured the beams to fit the home and lifted the main beam to eliminate the sagging floors. They installed new main beams to keep the floors where they are supposed to be. Floor joists were added, sistering the new to the old to provide additional support throughout the home. With the encapsulated crawl space and new support structures, this home is cleaner, drier, and more structurally sound!

LawnScape Outlet in Keo

A common cause of water in crawl spaces can be the gutter system. Gutters that discharge at the base of your home can be causing water to leak into the ground around your home and into your crawl space. Our LawnScape Outlet changes that. We can run a discharge line from your gutters or sump pump drainage line out into your yard where water can safely be discharged away from your home. Our teams will dig a trench as long as needed and bury a PVC pipe in the ground. The low-profile almost camoflaged LawnScape Outlet blends into the surroundings in your yard and allows water to safely drain away from your crawl space. Call CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas today!

Keo SmartSump with UltraSump

The SmartSump Sump Pump we installed in Keo was installed with the optional UltraSump Battery Backup Pumping System. The UltraSump acts a secondary pump should the power fail due to weather or other factors. It fits perfectly in the liner with the SmartSump, allowing both to operate fully without interference. The SmartSump features an airtight floor drain and the WaterWatch Alarm. The airtight floor drain allows water to drain into the sump without allowing air to escape, and the WaterWatch Alarm will alert you to let you know of a potential leak!
