Job Stories From Saline County, AR
Wet Crawl Space in Bryant Arkansas

This home had a sump pump in it when the new homeowners purchased the home, but they did not know where it came from and whether or not it was working, and they were experiencing some musty smells and wanted to investigate some of their options. When the home was inspected they found that the sump was working, but was not enough to solve all of the problems that they were experiencing. The sump that they had was just there to pump out water but there was nothing to control the moisture. To solve the rest of the problems they were experiencing, the crew graded the crawl space floor so the water would flow to the sump and it would not sit in pockets under the home. The crew also had to work on some of the plumbing to ensure that the water could properly flow out the crawl space. The crawl space also needed a dehumidifier to control the overall humidity level. This cuts back any chance that mold has to grow in the crawl space.

Crawl Space Renewed in Bryant, Arkansas

One of our System Design Specialist visited this home in 2014, the air company had been under the home and found mold and told them homeowner that it would be best for the crawl space to be sealed. The system design specialist went under the home and found the mold. He created a plan to solve the problems and prevent any future problems. The crew installed Drainage Matting, which creates small tunnels for the water to flow through. CleanSpace was also installed, it seals the crawl space and lock out moisture. A dehumidifier was installed to control the humidity of the crawl space to eliminate any chance for mold or mildew to grow. To finish the crews installed vent covers and a new crawl space door to completely seal the crawl space.

In 2018 the homeowners added on to the home and they wanted the System Design Specialist to come back out and inspect. The system design specialist explained to the homeowners that this addition also needed to be sealed to prevent any problems from happening in the future. The crew installed Drainage Matting on the floor and CleanSpace on top of that, just like in the main house. A SaniDry Sedona was installed in this add-on. To complete the encapsulation the crew installed a new door and vent seals. Now the entire home is sealed and this crawl space will not experience any moisture problems in the future.

Mold In CrawlSpace, Mabelvale Ar

Homeowner Yvonne M in Mabelvale Ar was having water issues in her crawl space, she stated every time it rained her crawl space would get 1"-2" of water. Because this mold began to grow in, Yvonne didn't know what to do because everything she tried has failed. She decided to call the experts here at Crawl Space Solutions to get a free inspection. When we arrived to begin installation we installed the following products, Mold-x2, SmartSump. CleanSpace, SaniDry Sedona, and IceGuard.

On installation day, we began by using our Mold-x2 - The Mold- X neutralizer provides an effective tool for cleaning and treatment of mold-contaminated building surfaces. Mold-X is sprayed on surfaces as a one stage process. Mold-X neutralizer has proven to be one of the most effective and least expensive treatments of its kind on the market today, providing an intelligent, proactive answer at a fraction of building material replacement costs. Mold-x can be used to neutralize mold on surfaces including basement or crawl space walls, floors joist, subfloors, etc. While Mold-x will neutralize mold at the time of application, it will not remove the neutralized mold which may still be visible.

Once we have the mold handle we would then begin installing our SmartSump- Our SmartSump is a combination of patented and custom components that make up a highly efficient and reliable water evacuation system for crawl spaces. Immediately after installing the Smart Sump, the production began laying down the CleanSpace Liner- Which is used to isolate the home from the earth completely and permanently. This dramatically reduces the humidity levels in the air which, when combined with sealing outside air and dehumidification, will eliminate mold growth and rot from the crawl space.

From here we would move to our IceGuard- Which allows water to escape from a sump pump discharge line if the pipe freezes or becomes blocked for any reason. When the discharge pipe thaws or the blockage is removed, water will automatically run along its normal route. To install the IceGuard- it is installed immediately after the 1 1/2" discharge line exits the rim joist of the house. A 1 1/2" 90-degree street fitting is installed at the end of the pipe penetration and glued to the IceGuard using PVC glue and cleaning solvent. IceGuard can be used with a 3" or 4" discharge line buried a minimum of 4" under the soil. The length of the 3" or 4' discharge is determined by the topography of the yard and should be run to a downhill grade away from the structure.

The last thing installed is the SaniDry Sedona- The Sedona eliminates damp, musty odors in your basement or crawl space by drying and filtering the air!  Some Key Features on the Sedona- Drains automatically, Small size fits in crawl spaces and takes up minimal space, Energy star rated, Fully ductable so it doesn't have to be located in the space you are drying!

After Installing these four things Yvonne crawlspace is now dry and mold-free!!

This combination of products will keep the crawl space of the home free of moisture and relative humidity at an ideal 55%!

Drainage Matting in Mabelvale

Our CrawlSpace Encapsulation System has many parts, each is important, each works best when installed with the rest of the system. This is the Drainage Matting. The Drainage Matting is the start of the complete encapsulation. It rests directly on the ground, right below the CleanSpace Liner. It is constructed from recycled high density polyethylene encapsulated between two layers of Virgin HDPE. The dimples you see create a drainage space for water to flow, keeping moisture away from the CleanSpace Liner and adding durability, puncture resistance, and a thermal break. The beauty of the CleanSpace Encapsulation System is that all parts work together to make your crawl space cleaner, drier, and healthier.

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Mabelvale

At a home in Mabelvale, the moisture in the crawl space was starting to affect the supporting structures. The owner had reached out to other crawl space contractors but wanted to get our opinion as well. Our Design Specialist, John T., came out to inspect the crawl space and discuss options with the homeowner. When the homeowner made his decision, he was ready for our team to get started.

Justin's team began by removing the old, batted insulation from the floor joists. The mold was removed with Mold-X2 Stain Remover which was followed with Mold-X2 Botanical to prevent mold from growing back. We began to address the structural concerns by sistering floor joists as needed. Joist sistering is done by adding an identical floor joist to the damaged one with screws or nails, adding additional strength to address sagging floor concerns. A metal beam and SmartJacks were installed for additional support under the home. SmartJacks are high-capacity adjustable floor support piers. They are made to stop settling and even raise the floor back up to where it was. The piers were wrapped with Wallie, a 12-mil thick liner, to prevent condensation from forming on the masonry, vents were sealed, and the EverLast Door was custom cut for their crawl space entry. Drainage Matting and the CleanSpace Liner were installed, isolating the home from the earth. A SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier will ensure the humidity is kept below 55%, and this encapsulation is complete.

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Mabelvale - Photo 1
Moldy Crawl Space in Bauxite

A resident of Bauxite contacted us with a concern about mold in his crawl space. Upon inspection, our Design Specialist found mold and rot in his crawl space. He designed a solution to eliminate the moisture causing the mold and rot, and repair the damages to the crawl space.

All areas with mold were treated with Mold-X2 Cleaner to remove mold, and then with Mold-X2 Botanical to help prevent mold from growing back. A metal shim, support beam, and SmartJacks were installed to support the structure, and the SmartSump Sump Pump and SmartSump Drainage System was installed. The SmartSump is always installed in the lowest point of the crawl space, and the drainage system is run to outside the home. Once outside, IceGuard provides an escape for water if the drainage line is backed up due to ice. The end of the drain line is capped with the LawnScape Outlet. LawnScape allows water to run off into your lawn, away from the house, without destroying the look of your lawn.

Back inside, Ez Flow Drainage was installed around the perimeter of the crawl space to facilitate ground water run off to the SmartSump, and Drainage Matting was installed to provide a thermal break and durability. The CleanSpace Liner isolates the home from the earth completely, and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier would complete this encapsulation.

Mold and mold spores can be harmful to you and your family. If you notice mold in your crawl space, or suspect you may have mold or rot in your crawl space, call CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas and be on your way to a cleaner, drier, heathier home.

Trouble with Mold in Traskwood Crawl Space

A resident of Traskwood reached out to us, concerned about the moisture and mold in her crawl space. Our Design Specialist, Curtis, went out to visit with her, inspect the crawl space, and design a solution to fit her needs.

Moisture can cause a lot of problems in your crawl space, and those problems will affect the rest of your home. Mold spores will travel in the air into your home, and rot will begin to set in, causing the structural integrity of your home to be compromised. In this home, Justin and his crew started by treating the crawl space with Mold-X2 Cleaner to remove mold from the existing structures. This would be followed by Mold-X2 Botanical, effectively treating the wood so mold does not return. With the mold gone, the crew was able to replace the main support beam, add metal support beams, and add additional floor joists. The piers were shimmed, and SmartJacks were installed to ensure the beams were properly supported. With a CleanSpace Encapsulation System, including Vent Seals, an EverLast Door, SilverGlo Insulation Panels, and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier, this home should stay drier, healthier, and more structurally sound for years.

Vapor Barrier Installation in Paron

A resident of Paron called us after visiting our website and reviewing the work we have done in the past. He requested his free consultation, so we set him up with our Design Specialist, Craigen, to go take a look. Craigen met with the homeowner and took his concerns into account when presenting him with a solution he loved.

Our installations crews began by prepping and grading the crawl space, then added our SilverGlo Insulation Panels to the walls, insulating the crawl space. They sealed the vents and began rolling out the dimpled Drainage Matting. This matting adds durability and provides a thermal break and the CleanSpace Liner is installed directly above it, isolating the home from the earth. Once the liner has been sealed in place, the crew installs the Energy Star Rated SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to remove moisture from the air, and the encapsulation is complete.

The homeowner is thrilled with the outcome, knowing his home is protected from mold and rot. Call CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas today and let us help you with your crawl space needs!

Paron Crawl Space Repair

A Paron resident contacted CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas to find out what to do about the mold growing in his crawl space. Our Design Specialist, Curtis, went to inspect the crawl space and visit with the homeowner about their concerns and the best way to resolve them.

Mold is a living organism and will continue to grow and spread if conditions are right, so the goal was to eliminate those conditions. The first step is to remove the existing mold with Mold-X2 Cleaner and follow it with Mold-X2 Botanical to prevent mold from growing back. The next step is to eliminate the moisture. Moisture enters your crawl space through ground water seepage, condensation, and through the vents to the outside.

Vents are sealed from the outside with our CleanSpace Vent Covers, and the walls around the edge of the crawl space are insulated with SilverGlo Insulation Panels. The Drainage Matting is installed on the graded and prepped crawl space floor, and the CleanSpace Liner is installed on top, isolating the home from the earth. A SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier will keep the humidity in the crawl space at 55%, preventing condensation from forming.

At CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas, we want your crawl space to be clean, bright, healthy, and dry. Call today for your free, no obligation crawl space inspection and estimate!
