Brightwall installation in Paris, AR

Brightwall panels are a semi-rigid waterproof panel made of Polystyrene that is mechanically fastened to a masonry wall. Brightwall panels will never rot, warp, or discolor. Any water passing through the wall from wall cracks or other penetrations will run behind the panel down to the waterproofing system below. It is a decorative washable panel used with a perimeter waterproofing system to waterproof a basement wall and act as a vapor barrier. They are clean and bright and will make the basement a lot brighter with the lighting available. 

To installing the bright wall:

Start by inspecting the walls for any high spots on the masonry especially with poured concrete walls. High spots may need to be knocked down with a hammer or chisel bit on the hammer drill, so the panel sits flat against the wall surface. Then, install the first panel in the far corner away from any doorways, work your way out from the corner to the left and right of where you started. If there are any pipe penetrations, you may want to start there. Measure the height of the walls to determine the size of the panels. Cut to size using a pencil and "T" square and cut the panel straight with a sharp knife. Trim pieces are cut to the same length as the panel using a PVC saw. Start by installing a trim piece on the panel before putting it against the wall, making sure the panel and trim are straight use a hammer drill with a 1/4" masonry bit to drill 4 holes about 2" in from the edges (top, upper, lower, bottom) for the x-mas tree fasteners to hold the panel in place.

If installed after a WaterGuard installation, the spacers behind the WaterGuard flange will need to be cut and removed so the bottom of the brightwall panel can slide behind the WaterGuard flange without getting hung up on the spacers. A waterproofing system is not required for the installation of brightwall panels. They can be installed in a dry basement environment to enhance the look of the walls.
