Why Basements Leak

These are drains installed around the exterior footer of the basement, and they work great, until they don't. We've seen footer drains that don't drain to anywhere, the drain is blocked or clogged, or the drains are installed too high to effectively take on water. When the footing drain fails, the soil around the outside of the foundation drain can't drain and becomes saturated. The weight of the water in the soil creates pressure and pushes the water through the joint between the footing and the wall, wall cracks and pipe penetrations, or the porous block walls. So how do we fix it?

We take a different approach. Rather than replacing exterior drains, we take it inside and install our WaterGuard Drainage System. We take up the concrete floors around the walls of the basement and install the drainage system just above the footing. We leave a small gap between the floor and the wall to drain wall leaks into the drainage system. This connects to the TripleSafe Sump Pump, where water is drained before being pumped out and away from the home.
