Here are the three most common solutions for controlling moisture in an Arkansas crawl space:

• Install a 6-mil Poly Plastic Liner
• Apply "Crete" Spray Concrete and Vermiculite
• The CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation System

Vapor barriers are not equally created.The cheapest way to go is to install a 6-mil poly plastic liner. However, this is also the worst solution, as it's prone to tears, punctures, and it begins to disintegrate from UV radiation as it sits outside during installation.  Additionally, it's easily pulled from the walls after installation, ruining it.

"Crete" spray is a light concrete that can be sprayed on to a crawl space. While it does have some insulating qualities that depend on its thickness, the fluffy cement and vermiculite compound will not address moisture problems, as it is even more porous than typical concrete and will allow water vapor to easily pass through. Cretes are typically offered with a warranty that lasts no longer than five years, as they do not tend to adhere well to the walls, and they crack and crunch when they're crawled on. Crete costs about twice as much as a crawl space liner system in Arkansas.

Crawl Space Solutions of Arkansas' CleanSpace warranty states that the crawl space liner will be free from holes and tears, and be free from groundwater on top of the liner for 25 years, or we will repair it at no charge to the homeowner. The CleanSpace crawl space liner is also warranted to reduce the humidity in a crawl space. The warranty does not include damage from abuse, or moisture from condensation.
